Hi everyone

I'm heading to Burrum Heads next week for a break, staying in a holiday house near the water. I will be taking my kayak with me and I was just wondering if anyone has any tips for where to fish, what bait to use etc. I will also take the crab pot in case there are any crabs around. Thanks for your help.

Hi NC. Drop into Burrum Traders and grab one of the laminated maps they have there that show you what you can catch where. If you are using baits, take a cast net if you have one because fresh is best. Plenty of options for yak fishing, but check with locals to see what is biting. If you are after crabs there are a couple of small creeks on the other side of the river that should have some muddies. Nice little place, so enjoy it.

Tides run a bit harder there, so beware of their times.

Lenthall's is only a half an hour run away if you want to try some fresh water fishing while there.
