Went for my first snapper hunt since the closure ended on Wednesday. Fished the last two hours of the run in and first hour of the run out in the southern Bay. Fishing was dead until the tide turned, then started to get some very finicky bites. Managed a feed before the dreaded northerly made it too uncomfortable so headed home with 3 pannies and a chunky bream. Only by-catch was a couple of grinners which were turned into strip baits and accounted for one of the snaps.

 No, Hamish.  Way too lazy for that. Had some cuttlefish, salted  mullet fillets and grinner for bait. Didn’t see any bait on the sounder either.

Yeah, we got northerlies  all day up here too, lost 2 dogs, got blown off their chains. Just in time to blow all the blossom off the mango trees.

No way you have mango blossom already...??? As for the two dogs..., Are you sure they weren't chained by the leg to a jaw trap and it was actually you who blew them away amidst a northerly breeze???

Yeah Brett, we've had blossom for a month now, strange but true.

Everybody has commented on how early it is and have put it down to that 50 odd mm of rain we had in July.

But we get winds every year called September winds, blows the blossom off and makes fishing not real fun.
