Visited Wivenhoe this morning, on arrival the water was quite choppy so the neighbour and had a few casts from the bank. After 30mins and only 1 cattie landed we decided to brave it. We trolled around for about an hour looking for bass schools before we finaly found some, which resulted in a double hookup, a 51cm for him and a 42 cm for me. I wanted to drop the icejigs down right away but he wanted to do a few pass's trolling. Well by the time we done our first pass by the school was gone. We then tried fishing jackals,SPs and other casting lures to no avail.

Later around 10am the wind came up again so we headed in, but continued fishing from the bank where I landed a nice fattie bass of 55.5cm this was 1cm shorter then the NPD one from sun arvo but it was a lot fatter. Caught on my fav vortex 3/4oz purple glimmer s/bait dragged slowly across the bottom.

yeah seen his name in the book. Next time I go I think I'll go on my own so I can fish the way I want to. I seem to spend my time catering to others and next thing you know its time to go home.

Pretty encouraging results for the landbased guys Dino.

I know what you mean, it's sometimes good to go it alone and please yourself the whole day and not worry about which way your smoke is blowing :whistle:.

Is the landbased tactics similar to NPD or not so much weed to pull thru?

yes as the water is rising they have similar foreshores

nice bass there Dino. Think I will head out there tomorrow, if it gets to windy I'll hit the river at fernvale

If it gets to windy just cast from the bank like I do, thats where some of my biggest fish have come from ha ha good luck
