Prawn I.D.!

G'day everyone, just after a ID on a prawn i got the other day in the cast net, never seen anything like it before, Orange strip up its back, jet black colour and blue and yellow legs. i am thinking too many chemicals in the creek has messed it up :P :laugh:. Thanks every one, nic

That's one unusual prawn. Maybe it's from some ships ballast.

Might be one for Kreel's museum mate.

The third pic looks like it's been made on a piece of Telstra rope......maybe give them a call:P

Scientific name : "Haliporus taprobanensis"

ist described in 1899 ...sorry you can't name it after yourself :)

I've caught the odd one in the cast net off Magnetic Island, Bowen, Lucinda, Gladstone and around Cairns. Only ever get 'em in ones and twos...probably not a schooling species.
