Clever idea

Saw a boat advertised on Ebay, Electric boat it said. so had a close look. The price was rediculous, $2000. But the way he had done it was very interesting.

He had an inboard motor type setup, with external prop shaft and gland, but instead of fitting a petrol or diesel donk, he had either a 12 volt or 24 volt DC electric motor.

As you can see from the photo's a relatively easy install, just a belt drive down onto the prop shaft. You could fit any size of motor, the motor in the pic was claimed to push the boat at 8 to 10k. Those of you experienced with electrics will realise that is nearly twice the speed you get out of your 'kota setup!

I also reckon this idea would suite Rays new project hulls down to the ground, with that \"transmission style hump\" down the middle of them. It would house this sort of setup perfectly! [img size=400]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/304a_1.JPG
