Groote Eylandt

Hi all,

I am heading up to Groote Eylandt in November for a weeks fishing. My brother in law has a friend up there with a house and a couple of boats that we can use. Yes I know I am damn lucky,

Thing is I am having trouble finding out much about the place. We have a 6 metre Polycraft plus a tinnie to play with so will be able to access a fair bit of the island as well as buzz over to the mainland.

Does anyone out there have any knowledge on some of the spots up there that we should target?

I am happy to troll and bait fish, but prefer to spend most of the time casting lures and flies.

don't know the area but any headlands with deep water close by will hold good fish like mackerel ,cobia and the ships wharfs also. the locals though should point you towards some good reefs if you ask right

Contact the local coppers there and ask for the local fishing club or tackle shop. Small areas like that often involve the coppers in every activity ...if its legal ....or if they won't get caught.
