What sort of fish

Last night I went out the back (Nudgee Creek) with the cast net and scooped up a net full of strange catfish type creatures. These had yellow stripes running across the body and a typical catfish spike on the body.

Does anyone know what they are and if they are good for anything.

Mate yeah they are a type of saltwater catfish.

They often school up so they actually look like a ray cruising along the bottom.

As for uses????

far out i saw them the other day when i was fishin in shultz, they went over my feet while i was standing in the water, they scared the absoloute crap out of me, its lucky i diddnt land on one when i jumped. they are just like a massive vacuum cleaner, about 20cm'slong and about 100 or so in the school. they hung around for an hour or so just going back and foward. little eel tail catfish they are i think.

yet another species typically found in the tropics... they have a sting like all catties- be careful!

Those little catfish supposedly have the most potent sting when it comes to catfish.
