bow mount on a runabout

so i've had a few pms asking me how i managed to mount a bow mount electric motor on a runabout. to start off it wasn't simple, i scoured the net since last november for images and finally put together a compilation of ideas into one design which would suit my boat the best.

being a runabout the dimensions of the electric, mounting angle and fabrication of the mounting plate was always going to be a challenge. i went through my boat dealer whom had an experienced welder on hand, while we had a few hiccups along the way they came to the party and we got there in the end.

the finished product minimises the amount of space lost without impeding vision whilst underway and without fouling the center windscreen door (i had it modified to open starboard side rather than port side). it looks standard and we minimised the amount of additional painting required.the mounting plate runs a few mm above the deck and the edges sealed to give a standard finish.

hoping to give it a test run this coming weekend down at the pin.

cheers

eug
