I'm catching flatties regularly on me placky lures now and am considering bringing one home for a feed. I see Dusky's are 40cm and Sandy's are 30cm min. What will I be catching down Wynnum way? Is it enough to just check the tail (Dot for Dusky?). Am I better off just going for an over 40cm Flatty to be sure? It will be all mine to chew on as the mrs and boy ain't fish eaters. I've been boning up on filleting via YouTube and found a nice looking parmesan crusted recipe. Yum Yum!

Most likely Duskies down there but we have caught a couple of big tails at Wello.

The dot on the tail of most duskies is pretty pronounced.

Mate id just go 40 for all and be safe.

sand flathead are all so known as bartailed flathead is what i thought, easy to id, black and white stripes instead of dot and purple on the tail..

u don't get much out of a 40 cm flathead ,not even enough fish for one .

go for the 50 to 60,s,u get a good fillet off them .

i throw ones under 45 back .
