Perfect weather conditions greeted anglers last weekend as they contested the final round of the 2011 Austackle “King of Moreton Bay†Team Series, fished over a 36 hour period from midnight on Friday night to midday on Sunday. After 3 rounds of targeting individual species, anglers were able to catch any or all of the 3 nominated species - namely Bream, Whiting and Flathead.

The leader board before the start was closely packed with 4 teams in with a realistic chance any of taking away the Teams Title and 4 anglers still within striking distance of being crowned “King of Moreton Bayâ€.

The rest of the teams still had the opportunity to win a fantastic array of prizes supplied by Austackle, Suzuki, Haines Signature Boats and the Fishing Monthly Group. Over $3,000 of random draw prizes were also given away which made sure that none of the competitors walked away empty handed.

Teams started checking back in at about 12-30pm on Sunday and it was quickly apparent that some huge points tallies had been accumulated with Whiting being the predominant species caught, particularly by anglers who fished in and around the Coomera River area.

3 recounts were required because of photo/points discrepancies on the scoresheets with all of the top 3 teams having some fish either disqualified or points adjusted. After what must have seemed an eternity for the waiting anglers and their supporters, the winners were announced as follows:
