split butt-full butt

I had never seen or heard of split butt rods till I recently started fishing again, and started replacing what I sold before returning to QLD from WA in 05. Now other than the obvious visual difference, what if any are the benefits of a split butt over a full butt? Another obvious benefit would be a little less weight.

You can put some foam and gaffa tape on them and make them like a real fishing rod

as far as i know its just for look, but maybe it adds a little extra length on the butt without the added weight.

when you reduce the amount of eva or cork on the handle, it reduces the amount of vibration absorbtion. So ultimately, it's supposed to help you feel the nibbles and bites better

Some handles you'll find have very minimal amounts of eva or cork right in the palm of your hand. These ones give you direct feedback from the rod blank but sometimes aren't the most comfortable so its a balancing act of comfort and the very slight difference in feedback.

Ty Do$tylz much the same as what I read from searching google, primarily aesthetic and personal preference. They do look good.

I recently gotten back into it and i notice the split butt is more comfortable to cast with, more lighter and balanced. then you have the short, medium or long butts. great if you're land based and casting out.
