still looking for a cheap tinny for myself and the boys a guy has offered me a 10v nose punt for about $450-$400.would this be ok ,just going around the estuaries of the tweed/goldy,.im a non swimmer so would like to feel safe.regards john

I had a 10foot punt some time a go.. With two adults it could get unstable. If I was going to take out young ones and I was not a top swimmer I would look for something a lot more stable.

Like rover has said - definitely get something bigger. In small tinnys you will find that even with 2 people onboard - if one person moves without telling the other the hull will instantly lean toward one side and can throw you off balance, which could lead to you falling into the water and your young boys left to try and get you back onboard.

You can't put a value on your life so please be safe and save up for something a bit bigger.

No disrespect, but a non swimming Aussie? Is this a first? I'd not go on a small boat if I couldn't swim, or at least tread water. Get yerself some lessons before taking yer kids out, you owe it to them. Things can, and do, go wrong.

yer funny thing ,growing up in country vic,i learnt to mark a footy before i could walk,plus catch a cricket ball.but swimming didnt seem a priority,on the one day a year it was warm enough to swim,i just swam doggy.thanks for the above fellas, i certainly will take it all on board.john

are you still looking for a tinnie? My father in law has one with a trailer and outboard and is ready to get rid of it, let me know if you want to look at it as it is a good boat for starting out. prob get it for cheap too.
