King Salmon out of San Fancisco

went out on a 6pack charter out of San Francisco ... Caught a pair of King Salmon, 13kg and 8kg.

Was staying with a friend/blogger in Sacramento so we filleted them, He made soup with the heads ( grilled the carcass for meat to go in the soup) , caviar with the roe, and tartare with the belly and hot smoked some fillets. Packaged and froze the fillets, collars, and the other belly and brought them back to Austin as luggage in a cooler :).

Been eating salmon pretty solidly for a week and still got a freezer full. A pretty amazing experience. We also went to Lake Tahoe ( amazing place, water visibility is crazy, something like 60 feet ) and caught Kokanee which are land locked salmon so they stay pretty small, but can find enough inlets with currents to breed still.
