Going out tomorrow looking to catch some mackeral and ideas on where to go or if anyone has been getting them, are lures or bait the go cheers fellas

What area are you thinking of fishing, A few boats on Mermaid and palmy, not sure if theres big numbers caught.

im looking at going of the gold coast to start with.

If your heading out through the seaway head south and travel 8 km down and you cant miss the boats on the mermaid reef or just jump currumbin ck bar if your experienced enough and hit the palm beach reef again you cant miss the boats. Pilchards work well on mackerel dont forget to use wire i like 27lb single strand and take some bait jigs for live yakkas and slimie mackerel for surface suspended baits. I always take slugs for casting in between when the baits arent getting hit

If you go out the seaway, drop some lures or skirts out and troll, A few blacks were caught just out the seaway.

They're in big numbers around Noosa at the moment. (spotted mackerel that is) a few of my mates bagged out on spotties in 20 minutes just around Laguna Bay! :ohmy:

Riiged one of the small slimie mackerel that had died with my single hook wire rig yesterday it kept so straight on the wire and looked awesome for floating out for the mackies cant wait till i'm hitting the spotties up with some of them on the goldie soon

I got snipped fishing plastic in the bay yesterday Tugger, I was near a beacon and there was this massive aggregation of jelly fish... from a distance looked like a bright blue sandbar...

Cast out, let the plastic sink through the jelly fish... Went to start retrieve and there was no weight at al..

Pulled it in and it was cut perectly.

Weren't the Jelly fish crazy in the bay over the weekend!!! Getting towed back to Raby bay, we saw hundreds and hundreds of them!

The bait balls off Noosa are so big...I don't think the mackerel will ever leave! There is also a few spanish macks in the mix aswell as some horse kingies! Really wishing I could get out there

Sounds like a mackerel hit they should be around in numbers soon
