queensland King Island

Hi all, I was planning on heading out to Wello Point tomorrow for an early morning land based throw.

I was stupid enough to try and get a park on Sunday afternoon but that didn't turn out too well.

Just wondering if King Island is worth the walk? Does it drop off anywhere around the island or is it shallow all around?

Any tips would be much appreciated

Shallow all around, very gradual fall. Muddy/ rocky bottom, could be some whiting and bream around on the western side (side with the beacon)

Bream on the right hand side as you are walking out, unweighted baits to avoid snagging best fished on the incoming tide.

Whiting on the sand banks to the left, also better on a making tide.

flathead in the shallows out past the island on the left up to the red marker out there, last 2 hours of outgoing the best.

Squid to the right of that red marker in the weed beds, I have had most success at high, but they are there at low (only time you can get out there is 2 hours either side of low).

Thanks mate. I'll be out there around 5 or 6 so tide should be starting to come in. I'll be trying for whiting so thanks for the tip
