Dead or Alive?

Recently me and Bryne01 have been doing well on dead pillies and dead, freshly caught mullet towards the mouth of the Brisbane River. on a recent night trip after a short search with the cast net we had a number of livies from mullet to herring. a scale was not raised and i wondered whether the dead bait could simply be working better.

I was wondering if i could get any help on your views of live bait vs dead. also if using live, what size of fish would you recommend, say using a live mullet.

Squire, cod, bream and jew are all of consideration.

I like a 4/0 or 2/0 Wide Gap hook for live bait. I like fresh dead bait just as much as live bait. It all depends on how fussy the fish are.

Well your not going to catch a bream or squire there on a live mullet, unless it is very very small!

As long as they are alive, they should outfish dead bait. If their dead, a pillie might do better from a smell point of view.

Mmm try the pillie for the usual bream/squire and leave a BIG live bait on for big shark or jew:)
