quick question regarding surface feeding fish in hinze

Hey Guys, Hinze has been fishing really well over the past week with the rise in water, pretty much all the fish we have been getting have been in the freshly flooded areas. Yesterday afternoon we witnessed something we had never seen, we were fishing near the water tower on the eastern side of the dam (it was glassed out) and the fish were smashing the surface way out in the middle of the dam in 80 or more feet of water, we think they were bass chasing the bandies but couldn't hook any (or maybe togas chasing bugs around?), we did find a school of bass in 70 feet suspended at 20 feet which i managed to catch one. Any ideas on what was out there? No photos unfortunately

Tight lines, Glenn.

Hi Glenn,

I'd guess they were bass feeding on baitfish. I have seen bass smashing baitfish on the surface at Clear Island Waters just after dawn. We had a hot bassin session casting shallow crank baits that lasted over an hour.

Cheers... Joe.
