i need a new weapon for jacks?

i'm looking to annoy the hell out of jacks for the next few months and i want a new weapon. i'm after a spinning outfit. what do you suggest guys? budget around the 3-400 mark.

i've just bought a new baitcast outfit to suit bass and jacks etc, got a daiwa zillion and t-curve

but for spinning outfit, you can get away with light gear but a bit heavier would be more suited maybe like 2-6kg rod and 2500 size reel

but im sure people could be more specific on the gear

I'd go a 3-6Kg Rod with a 2500 Reel loaded one spool of 12lb Braid and one of 10lb Mono

both live bait & lures rocket, prefer spin this time, got plenty of baitcasters but just seem to swear at them a lot lately.

if you have a spool of 12 or 14lb u should be right and for fun you can try it on your breaming line

i reckon you bream gear will be fine.

just spool with10-14 lb line and hang on.

you would be surprised to a 4 kg rod is capable of. 4 kg is still a very big jack

Shorties right and he's our own 'jack king' with his catch on a 2000Sol and 4lb Fireline.

Got a 40cm jack on the weekend on 8lb braid and a dodgy $50 3-6kg spinning combo. It can be done if you get lucky.

Mate John Fooks at Tackleworld has some good specials at the moment.

In particular he has a massive selection of limited edition and sample rods at really good prices. You could easily get a good setup there for that price. (if you drop in that your AFO you will most lilely get special attention and a special price as well).

I need to get one of those shirts. But that's like nearly the same as 3 sx40s! Does anyone else look at things and add up how many lures it is worth? I walk into a store and will see something I like but then can't buy it because I think of what it's worth in fishing gear.

Do I have a problem?

I would suggest not using your breamin gear for jacks aim to use something with alittle more grunt if U really want to land a decent size jack..

After the jack I witnessed only a few months back, hooked and lost on 15lbs main line.:ohmy:

BRICKED with enough force to spin a small tinny 180...

Bream gear would only be suited to smaller size jacks and with the cost of line, not to mention the amount of lures that u would be \"throwing away\". The money lost could be better spent on upgrading to an outfit that is more suited for the purpose of extraction...
