Boat Storage- Prevent Theft

I dont have room in my shed to store my new boat. I have room in the backyard. Which will not make the place look very tidy. Or it could be kept in front drive way. How do you prevent theft by just leaving your boat sitting on your front yard? Its just a tinny so ideally someone could just hook it up and drive off.

Hey Hunter and welcome to AFO. 

That's a good question. 

There are plenty of "Trailer anti theft device" (google that) that work pretty well. you could still just tie the whole lot to a car but its pretty tricky. I have a really heavy chain with a very good quality padlock as well as a the trailer hitch lock coupling like the one below. 

A gate would help too. I think it helps to keep it out of sight if you can?

i would keep it in the back yard there too easy to take even with a lock on them

The trailer tow ball lock as pictured above as well as a quality wheel clamp.

Plus insurance, at least if it gets stolen you can claim it on insurance. You can also invest in GPS tags that can be hidden which allows you to track where it is at all times, they can be a little expensive but a great tool
