Fishing gear in car boot under hot sun

How many of u do this? If so, will it damage the rod, reel or line? I've been wanting to do that but I can't imagine any good the soaring temperatures will do to the tackle. Thanks for the input

Yeh mate it would not do a significant amount of damage but i would not recomend it if u have braided line the hot sun could slightly dry it out making it fluff up more

from my experience car boots are generally pretty cool, so I would imagine not much would happen.

Well sounds like there's no harm putting one rod in the boot just in case an opportunity turns up

If you are worried wrap it in a towel or somthing thick to keep the heat out

When you think about it you have your rod sitting in the hot sun all day when you're fishing anyway.

Ok in boot but inside car in sun predateks disform and so will jackalls.

Sedan boot - yes. In the wagon - forget it! - You should have seen the shape of my light board:blink: It was a nice \"S\" shape. I'll have to put it back in to straighten it out again:S :laugh:

Just remember to wrap them up in something...the last thing you want is a tip or shaft hanging over the boot lip when you slam the boot shut.

Forgot to take my compound bow out of the boot for a couple of days once, and the limbs lost their strength. So the heat deteriorates the timber, but fibreglass, dunno.

I keep a cheap shakespeare 6' combo in the cab of my truck with some ebay lures just in case I end up at a waterfront site. Never had any issues with it I just wrap the reel in a rag to keep the sun off the line.
