Aldi has a boating and fishing sale next Saturday (4 Nov). If you need a new life jacket, I can recommend the $49.99 jackets they are advertising. I bought one a couple of years ago and the quality is just as good as my Burkes.

SAw the brochure today. What intersts me is that they also appear to have a "chin strap" to keep the top of the vest tight.  ONly seen this on VERY expensive ones before...

I bought two of these. They do have two straps, waist and chest whereas my Marlin 150 jacket only has one at the waist and was double the price. I would recommend these Aldi jackets.

@Old Scaley does the Aldi model manufacturer user guide permit self-service maintenance once per year or does it require return to manufacturer?

This is the only annoying thing about inflatables, doing the self-sevice. With the Burkes there is a manual (steps) and form that is ready made and can be filled out for any fisheries checks.

The Aldi jacket booklet also has self-service maintenance instructions and a card for logging the checks. I think I threw mine away. Do they really check these if it looks in good condition?

They sure do. Every time they pull you up for a look they check the life jackets thoroughly - both MSQ and Water Police.

I have mine professionally serviced and certified and have had to provide the certificate to them on more than one occasion.

Service protocols are the same as the Burke 150. I find the process easy and relatively cheap. Good habit to get into because you don’t want an avoidable failure at a critical time.
