Bait Advice

Hi Guys,

Just looking for a bit of advice on bait for a fishing trip tomorrow.

We are putting in at Brekky Creek and heading towards the mouth of the river. Just interested in what type of bait we should have on board. We arent shark hunters and will most likely be targetting bream, flathead etc.

Neither of us have fished that area before so all suggestions welcome (as well as any tips on where to and not to fish).

Thanks

C

well prawns are obvousiley a good bait for both species but if your looking for some nice flatyys yeh drift some pillies of white bait over the sand banks always produces when theres flathead around or the bait shops sometimes have live yabbys\worms they are also a very good hit with the bream.

try a size 1 bait holder hook a piece of steak or chook about 4/5 cm long about a cm square no swivell JUST enough lead to suit the tide and cast close to structure like 20cm close is good and keep hold of your rod this works for me when catching bream on steak at the mouth of breaky creak on the right is a large rock wall then further up the river on the left about 4k is a pile of rock then up at the sunken wall is good and on the other side of the river is a yellow x aim at it theres an upwelling there hope this helps

ooh yeh they dont like the fatty bits in the steak so try to cut around them a small bit to help the hook hold if fine but big bits of fat is useless

other than that fresh beats frozen no matter what bait it is :)
