Hi All

Dont know how many of you visit the Sweetwater Fishing web page at all, but Garry Fitzgerald who owns and administers the site is looking at putting on a Kayak only bass comp in September this year at Wivenhoe dam.

He is currently looking for people that would be interested or suggestions on how etc the format should be.

If I knew how to put up a link to the Sweetwater site I would for you to add your thoughts or show your interest.

But for the interim you can either visit the site or drop your thoughts or opinions here and will direct Garry to this post.

Thanks

Ok Folks here are some updates from the sweetwater site

Some great sponsers are coming onboard and now access to no go never before fished areas.

If you have not submited your interest on swetwater please do so here so that I can diect Fitzy here or pass on the info. Will update who is interested in my original post.

Here is a cut and paste.

Would attend a Kayak / Canoe only Bass comp on Lake Wivenhoe?

If there is enough interest we will organise one for late winter 2008 to catch the end of the peak Bass season.

Things to consider

Proposed entry fee of = donation to stocking group.

Prizes / Sponsors - would you like prizes or just a trophy?

Duration - 1 day or 2 day event? Camping at Captain Logans Camp / Lumley Hill.

Please offer you feedback.

As stated above - we're happy to organise it if there's enough interest so please throw up your ideas here. I've organized & run other major fishing comps, this shouldn't be too hard in comparison.

Cheers,

Fitzy..

This post will be updated as more info comes to hand or is confirmed.

Ok Folks,

Heres the deal with access. SEQWater & its staff have approved for competitors in the Kayak Convention to be able to use the Fig Tree Lookout area for launching / retrieval. We will be able to fish north of this point all the way around the corner to the regular permitted boating area.

Yes, we will be permitted to fish where NOBODY has ever fished before. I've been in this area with SEQWater Staff & DPI&F & seen some of the fish in this area on the fish finders.

Competitors do not have to launch at , you will be permitted to launch from where we will be running the comp (Logans Camp / Lumley Hill) or to drive to other access areas eg Sailing Club area, O'Sheas Crossing, etc.

A map will be made of the permitted access area & this will be explained at a briefing which will be conducted on the first morning.

Cheers,

Fitzy..
