Stanley River Bassin

Hit the Stanley late this afternoon, got on the water at 4pm, tied on Spinnerbait and headed upstream a little, first thing I noticed is the river has changed quite a bit after the floods came through. an entire Log Jam right upstream was gone and loads more new trees in the water now

I Chucked the spinnerbait around for about 45 mins or so for not a touch so I decided to try my luck on the surface with a Black Jitterbug, about20 mins in I fire a cast right on the mony in amongst some Hot looking structure, has to be a fish i there I thought chug chug chug BANG massive surface strik and im on Woooo man that was a big hit, he was pulling hard too trying to brick me on the plentifull structure but I won in the end and landed this little Beauty

He went around 40cm

But boy do they go hard :woohoo: :woohoo:

Thought It was going to be the start of a good surface bit as it was still only 5pm or so but that was it not another touch, but who cares with such great waters to fish and nature to view.

I had a Platypus rise and sit on the surface within touching distance of the yak but he dove as I grabbed the camera. also Saw Turtles,Lungies,a Snake crossing the river and dozends of water dragons, also had me lure attacked twice by a kingfisher lol

Is there suposed to be so much water in your yak? Is that normal?

Nah it is water but yes its supposed to be there, thats where the mirrage drive comes threw the hull, your feet sit above it on the pedals so nothing gets wet

Have U tried downgrading the surface lure size as those jitterbug lures are pretty big!

Just a thought.....

That water looks as if it would be full of bass!!

Yeah Dazza I was using the smaller jitterbug and tried a 35mm buggypop for a while. Its only the fish that manage to make it all the way up from somerset its not stocked in the river itself and they cant breed. theres probly more yellas than bass
