I scratched my brand new boat!!! :(

....the boat is only 2 weeks old, and I put a big scratch down it on the weekend!

The biggest dissapointment is that I no idea how I did it! It happened in transit on the way home! I must have caught something cutting a corner - it's the only explanation I can think of.

Anyhow, are big scratches in ally boats easy to repair? The panel has a very slight crease in it too....

Can anyone suggest a suitable repairer?

oohhh ouch..... I am feeling for you! I put a scratch and crease in mine not long after I had it too... but it went on to hit the house so caused some carnage.

I just buffed out the scratch the best I could and left the crease there as not so noticabe now.

:( mate if the crease isnt too deep you could trot down to super cheap and pick up a cheap panel repair kit has a few tools / dolly's to hold on the out side of the boat to absorp the impact of the the hammer.

Give the crease a gentle tap with a hammer on the inside in line with the dolly.

Make sure the face of the hammer is nice & flat otherwise you have a series of half moon momentos

Try some wet n dry using kero as the lubricant .. grit grade relative to the scratch / scar & crease.

you need to go slightly wider on corners especially going around median strips with those little >>> signs on them

I wouldn't mind, but I've extra careful about taking a wide sweep around corners and really don't know where I got the scratch!

Yeah,

you gotta take it wide around corners,

drive out then turn the wheel hard,

drive opposite from your direction a bit then go in your direction ( eg. turn right a bit leading up to turn(20-40m) and then left, should take traier out a bit more)

other than that be careful

Probably a bit safer to drive past the corner before turning rather then taking up two lanes. The one time you forget to look in your mirror before the corner will be the time there is a Porsche GT3 sitting beside you.
