Clontarf Wading for Flathead 1 March 2009

Happy "Green Zone" Day,

Hit the waters around the clontarf foreshore in the waders. Flicked soft pastics (mainly Gulp, 3" shrimp in natural) between 6am - 9am. Weather was perfect. Greeted by the usual pod of dolphins. No hits until around 7am. Then got around 20 flathead in what turned out to be a hot bite. Nothing bigger than 40cm, so all went back. Also got a nice little cod (34cm) and a moses perch (first on platic). Again, these went back in for another day. Got bricked a couple of times. I assume they were cod. One I tried to do "An Angus" and started to move rocks, but no luck and managed to submerge the reel.

Lots of fins breaking the surface. Couldn't entice a hit with platics, SX, or popper. Thought they may have been threadies, but probably more like catties or sea mullet.

Managed to fill the waders diving for my snagged SX60. Nothing beats water-logged footy socks in waders. Bloody heavy.

Until next time.
