Moderators

Hi Webby - here's a thought.

You \"Admin and Moderators\" seam to get unfairly targeted by newbies on line. THis is quite disrupting to the site, not to mention hurtful and disrespectful towards you guys. Your post draw attention for the wrong reasons.

From my view it would be good if you were ranked as a normal contributor. That way you could contribute more often without the fear of the tall poppy syndrome.

Anyway just thinking of you guys:kiss:

Brian, some boards have a newbie system where the Newbies posts are not displayed until moderators have reviewed the posts, then after a set number of posts they are trusted to post straight to the board.

Similar systems also exist to encourage posting, for instance Ausfish wont let you send PM's until you have done a certain amount of posts, (you can receive them) or post to their for sale section until you have a certain number of posts.

It is also good for stopping banned people on dial up or rotating IP addresses just logging in as another user to continue to be disruptive.

This is very handy for smaller sites where often it can be quite a few hours before a moderator comes on line and deletes their sorry buts.

Personally on the Board I moderate I must get a ratio of about 10 to 1 of Russian mail order bride and viagra sellers attempts against genuine new users signing up a day, despite having image recognition and IP address filtering enabled. But on that board you dont get on until a moderator physically enables your login, which while a pain in the but, for new users and moderators means it is very rare for us to have issues on the board.

If it is not newbie friendly chippee then how have you done 75 posts so quickly after joining only 10 days ago?

I am only a day old on this site and I manage to put all my posts in the right areas, unlike yourself who put 3 posts in the Introduce Yourself section, once is a mistake, three times is just plain stupid.

You guys need to appreciate the effort the moderators have made so that you could even have a website like this, and if you don't like how it is run, then don't come back. It is as simple as that.

Myway, Iceknight, Joey: Its funny mate that the more you try and disrupt the site the more juvenile you make yourself look. As was worded very well before, if you dont like the site, dont use it. The fact you continue to really indicates a sad situation. By the way, WayneD has been Yakking a lot longer than me ;)

WayneD: Mate ignore his comment. This post was made by a repeat \"stirrer\" so to speak. I think he is only more frustrated everytime he logs on with a different name at the lack of effect he actually has.

Good fishing.

i have only been a member of this site for a short time.but every question i ask is answered with enthusiasm. thus i felt welcome. dont know what this guy is on about. thanks for the site.

i have seen this sort of thing before though. people that \"cant do it, sledge it\". idiots.

make a site that competes with this one then come back and bag it.

Hamish, that is a great point your makeing!

Unfortunelty, those who cant, sledge, your right. And whilst there will always be poeple who enjoy fishing, talking about fishing, and both teaching and learning about it, you'll always have those sledgers trying to bring everybody else to their miserable, pathetic and down right stupid level.

If you treat others with respect, then you'll recieve it back.

Im not saying you have to agree with everybody on the site, i dont agree with everything that is said here. But there are ways of saying so with out becoming a wanker!

For those in the site who enjoy it, I can only advise not to get sucked into debates or arguements and idiot poeple whose lives are so dull and empty that they need to create some drama to keep them going on with life.

In other words, ignore them.

yh true to that ASH, alot of people on the site seem to be getting caught up in 'drama's' about all kinds of things. I reckon people should try and focus all that energy from sledging etc, to sharing and learning fishing stuffB). I have been on the site for a fair while ( like half a year or so ), usually reading posts every night and in the last few months there has been alot of arguments about people personal fishing choices and the way the site is run. Just enjoy your free source of fishing info! :silly: .

Woops - hey I didn't mean for this crap to happen. My point was that the Moderators and Admin staff (all volunteers) get unfairly targeted and loose Karma for just doing the right thing by us. Lay off em and each other.:pinch:

If they (Moderators & Admin) where just listed as \"Seniors\" the newbies wouldn't know tarket them.

Chippie - I understand what you're saying but I don't agree. That's not to say I don't like or respect you -I think you have a lot to offer the site, just give yourself time to settle in and become part of the team. :)

Don't get frustrated just relax, catch heaps of fish, post heaps of cool photos, pass on your skills and local knowledge and you'll see the site in another light. After all this is a fishing site not a sledgers den. More fish More fish More Fish! B)

I know there goes my Karma again but so what - I'm still going out in the bay on the weekend to catch fish.;)

Brian and Feral, points raised noted, though there is other limitations and considerations to be taken onboard with regard to the ideas you have raised.

Also, I believe this site is extremely newbie friendly and friendly in to everyone in general, as you can see, people are willing to help, teach and give advice and im very proud of the majority of users and feel sorry for the few who feel it necessary to make the few of us running the site stay up longer each night keeping the site on track.
