Pirtek Challange

Hey all as the pirtek challange is this sunday and I was just wanting to know who was fishing this event.I got my brag mat and hat yesterday and I'm interested in what peoples thought on what species it might be this year.

registered, bragged matted, hatted up and ready to go mate. Website says it'll be a species accessible from land, boat and whatever else so I'm thinking probably bream, flattie, possible trev, jack, snapper........

I've never competed in the Pirtek challenge. Is this the one where you sign up and only find out what the target fish is on the day??

That's the idea Henry, I can't remember what the species were last year but I do know one of them was Mangrove Jack.

Tacklebox and I are both signed up, we have no idea where we will go - species dependent I suppose.

Last year the targets were flathead and mangrove jack. This year Qld will have 3 target species. 2 saltwater and 1 inland native :cheer:

I was thinking they may be bream and flathead this year.Henry your don't find out what species they are until 6pm the night before and then you get your code like what happens with afo comps

I wasn't really on the ball on this when i signed up. Apparently the fishing club with the most people signed up gets a camcorder. We should put it out there earlier next year so we can win afo something.

Had a crack at it last year and actualy landed one of the target fish, a lizard, only made it up to the 57cm mark but it was great fun nevertheless. Got it off Redland Bay, I'm hoping for flatties to be on the list again this year, but I recon we might get bream too? NSW had whiting last year I think but that'd be a great speacies. I haven't been able to land a whiting larger than 22cm out of Moreton Bay in the last 6 months, but that probably reflects more on me :laugh:

This will only be for novelty sake but could be interesting...

Where's everyone gonna be heading for this? I'm guessing the species will affect it somehow. I get the feeling bream will be on the list...

If the weather holds all weekend and again depends of species if it's bream might hit red cliff but if they deside the same as last year I might be heading south to the goldie but it will be somthing that land based anglers get aswell but I'm looking forward to this with hulk fishing with me again this year.

Nice one, I'm on decky duty so not really getting a say. Think the boys have decided to launch from donnybrook area and head up the passage...
