Making Jig Heads

Brian D

Recommended Posts

When I lived on the Tweed River I used to hack saw 4 ball size snikers and crimp them around live bait hooks, but the finish was pretty untidy.

I was thinking a sinker mould with wire loop and roofing lead, med shaft hook then dip in marine paint.

Should cost about 20cents per finished head. Any other suggestions?

Yeh my brother used to.

He had splitshots(all different sizes) and and hooks that just before the eyelet they bend straight up. You then just use pliers to squash it down. I like to sand mine a little because sometimes they can be a bit off balance.

Yeh troy I know what you mean but I just prefer an up and down/however you control it action. I usually attempt to fish for bream in super snaggy territory therefor I like have full control over it. But as my latest results have beeen the way they are I'm up for a new retrieve anyway. Thanks for the idea.
