long or short shaft

am looking to replace my 70 yammy with either a yammy 80 or suzuki 90. how do you work out if i need a long or short shaft?

I think it would be a long shaft I think shorts stop at 50hp not 100% sure

i just found a 2009 old stock suzuki df90 12000 but it is a long leg. im pretty sure my boat would be a short shaft tho.

I am pretty sure it would be a long.

In bigger motors they are usually long or extra long.

shaft length depends on your transom height. usually you would have short,long and extra long shaft. just measure your transom from where the motor bracket sits on your transom to the bottom of your boat. I think long shaft is 25". but if you have this measurement and tell the dealer , you will get the right one.I hope this helps

Shaft Length

Measure from the top of the transom (directly where the engine will be mounted) down to the bottom of the hull, lowest point.

Measure the area of measuring existing outboard: Measure from the inside top of mounting bracket down to anti-cavitation plate above propeller

14†– 17.25†15†Shaft (Short)

17.25†– 19.5†this depth can sometimes be specifically one or the other.

19.5†– 22.5†20†Shaft (Long)

22.5†– 27†25†Shaft (Extra-Long)

woohoo! secured my suzuki 90 today with a deposit. just got to sell my 70hp yammy now to complete thr transaction. Yammy only 90 hours. $5000 if anyone interested? controls and guages. note engine is in Ayr tho just south of townsville. PM if interested
