just got back from the pine mixed bag, all on cooked coles prawns ($9 per kg!!!)

got about 5 legal bream, 2 undersize

2 baby threadies (or river perch?)

one massive catty

and 200 of those b@sterd striped grunter things

all went quiet untill i had a lie down with my rod sitting in a root. about two minuites later i heard zzzzzzzz. after fishing around the pine for so long my first thoughts were 'wtf is that noise' looked over at my rod and the drag was peeling off at a rapid rate, ran over and grabbed it a couple of minuites later up comes a 41cm trevally, does anyone know what type it is? it had small black spots on its back that you cant see in the photo, i should have taken a better photo but i was keen to get it back into the water

didnt get heaps of pics, you have all seen grunters, and catties

some sort of trev?

those two are putty-nose perch, river perch look like small jew with some differences

baby threadies look exactly like downscaled adults and have less whiskers per side, puttynose perch have between 6 and 7 filaments on either side that are quite short, and king threadies have usually 5 either side which are much longer.

nice catch though the gt's woulda given you some sport

cheers

Dan
