queensland Double ID required

Hey there, a mate and I were down at one of his spots near the Gold Coast and I pulled these out fishing of a rockwall. First one is a cod right, I've just never seen those colours.

Annnnd the second was really amazingly coloured, there was a blue stripe up near the spine that was almost glowing when it came out of the water. Any ideas/.

First one is a type of Wrasse. They are prolific on the rock walls just outside the mouth of brissy river

Thanks Terry, after you mentioned that I googled and yeah totally Wrasse. Damnit I thought I had pulled up a baby Cod of some sorts lol :silly:

I think at least. Can't remember what type. It's one of those fish that pops up occasionally on the ID threads. Will see if I can dig out the specific type.

Some sort of Whiptail a Pentopodus species most likely P. caninus

They sure are good livies. The first is very similiar to a moon wrasse

Thanks folks. I just saw a larger version of the whiptail posted in the fishing category caught over the weekend. Okay well Wrasse it is, for what I thought was a baby cod. Also I swear it barked at me and then tried to take a chunk out of my hand!
