2003 Subaru Impreza capable of towing a 4m tinny?

Hey guys,

I'm in search of my first car and was wondering if a Subaru Impreza is capable of towing a 4m tinny with a 30hp motor.

The car is rated to pulling 900k (braked) and 500kg(no brakes, My trailer has no brakes

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have pulled a tinny on the beach behind a 1.3L Sierra... you will be fine

Easy, just dont flog it if its auto. those tinnies dont weigh much probably 400-500 with trailer etc at most.

If its auto invest in an aftermarket transmission oil cooler otherwise you will kill the box in no time.

Easily I tow my 3.7 with my 1.3l Sierra so you will be fine

the trick is to tow in 3rd or turn the overdrive button off in any auto

Hey mate, I own a Subaru liberty with the same motor as the impreza and have towed a 5.5 meter stabi craft with easy. The 2.5L version which i have is actually quite torquey and I can easily tow a 4m bass boat at 100kph in 5th gear with no issues on the hills

First thing put your loaded tinny over weighbridge.

You will be suprised how much extra weight a couple of fuel tanks,esky and fishing gear weighs.

Also check the drawbar download.

If the drawbar load is excessive or the laden weight of outfit is over 500kg you are looking for trouble if you are pulled up by the scaleys or if you have an accident.

They transport polkice were outside esk last thursday and were pulling everyone over checking trailers,breathaliser and license check.

Had quite a few cars and trailers at side of road

+ 1 for after market transmission cooler, if the vehicle your getting is auto.

Fitted one to my car awhile back. Money well spent.
