Dark water bass

Little Grey Men

Recommended Posts

I decided to make a little early morning detour on the way to work. Rubbing my eyes in the pre dawn dark I loaded the yak on the car and hit the road.

I slid the kayak down the bank and out onto the dark water at 4:35am and the air was freezing, I was shaking all over while trying to work a soft cicada around some exposed timber that I could just make out. The shaking combined with the on the edge feeling of working a surface lure to entice a bass hit, meant that when the first fish did pounce on my lure, I got such a fright that I almost fell off my yak.

As the sun started to slowly peak over the horizon the air warmed up and it got a lot more comfortable, meaning I could concentrate on the job at hand.

All up three bass and one chunky silver pinned themselves to the little cicada before the rooster crowed.

What an amazing part of the world we live in.
