Peel Island 16-3-13

Finally we had a beautiful sunny day in Brizvegas, so we headed out to Peel Island with glassy conditions first up. The water was cleaning up nicely and no jelly fish to be seen. Plenty of turtles splashing around and the odd dolphin coming up to check us out. We also witnessed big schools of stingrays swimming in formation and hovering just under the surface.

With great weather we even caught some fish, caught a couple of snapper around the 36cm mark, a small golden trevally, grassies, flathead and a stonker of a bream on a popper in shallow water.

All were released and we even got smoked on some larger fish (probably trevally) plus a foul hooked stingray - always the way when you fish light.

Nice one mate. What a cool looking little golden!

Baby golden's are a great looking fish.

It's great to hear that the bay is clearing up. Also great to hear about the jellies. Not sure if they affect the fishing or not but they always seem to lower my mojo a bit.
