Recommend Mono

I have used a number of different lines over the years but I need a mono for flicking a metal lure at tuna and the like. I have decided against braid for the initial time as I am going from a Abu 7000 (bushes) to a Speedmaster IV (bearings) and I suspect that even with using grease in the bearings the spool will still run at a fair pace.

So, I have allocated around $20.00 for a line (30lbs) that is soft and has a bit of stretch. I will need about 300m, however I have some dacron for backing is needed. I have looked at a few lines online but it is impossible to tell what the line is really like in the 'real world'.

Thanks Guys, your thoughts are greatly appreciated,

Cheers Tony

Thanks guys,

I went to a tackle shop yesterday and bought a Berkley Sensation, it was $9.40 for 250yds/30lb. I looked at platinum and it was everything that I expected from what has been described, thin and soft. In the end it came down to a medium priced line that I can learn to cast the Speedmaster IV on without making a hash of braid and then after a couple of outings change to braid.

Thanks again.
