Sole, Flounder and Moreton Bay Bugs

Recommended Posts

Just passing a fresh fish shop today and I noticed they had some sole or flounder for sale. I know trawler fishermen tend to catch them in nets, however, I cannot recall seeing any fishing shows where fishermen (rod/line) can actually target them. Do they?

Secondly, I have eaten prawns and crabs, but not a Moreton Bay Bug. Are they cooked similar to prawns or crabs as I would like to try one. Jim

I've caught a few flounder hopping smaller plastics along the bottom around the Bay. Beautiful eating.

Bugs are usually sold already cooked and yeah, like prawns, crays etc. they are boiled. Flesh is similar to other crays. Very nice sliced up on a roll with some good mayo or seafood cocktail sauce, squeeze of lemon and some shredded iceberg lettuce. ;)
