Had A Gutful!

A couple of dozen Bass from the yak is always a fantastic start to any day, especially when they're recklessly smashing any offering presented. I've been favouring beetle spins, metal blades and Jackalls lately, and it's because the Bass seem to punish them so much harder than other lures. Metal blades are my recent favourite to cast out, and very cheap too.

I find it interesting that with the Jackalls and often the metal blades, the Bass hit the front treble. The metal blades are so small that they just engulf the whole thing anyway.

It's also impressive to see even the very small Bass have a crack at the bigger lures, and the bigger fishies don't care what size the offering is.

Sometimes the greediest of Bass give good insight into what food is on offer to them. In an attempt to finish off their brekky or morning tea, they greedily ambush the inedible object on the end of my line, and end up coughing up all their hard earned efforts instead. Small to large Shrimp, Redclaw, Bony Bream and lots of the small natives like Gudgeons are apparently good tucker for the Bass.

Does anyone else notice the fish get smaller the closer they get to the net? Very annoying ;) Sometimes they do manage to make it to the measuring stick, but mostly a quick snap and away they go... :)
