Eddie's paternoster rig

Thought I'd like to share the rig I use for most if not all of my fishing \"expeditions\". The 3 inset photos are taken from Uncle Kerry, a hardcore surfcaster from Singapore. The rig I use is based on what I've learnt from Kiara as well as Kerry's own surf-fishing rig. Check out his rigs and catches at the following site:

This rig is a simpler version that does not require elaborate sleeves, crimping, wires, 3 way swivels, complicated knots and the like. It is real quick to tie and has not failed me so far, proven by the threaddie and stingray that I caught recently. :P

Take note that the hook line may be tied higher up than what is shown, but because I'm targetting stingrays, I tend to have it real low.

This rig is perhaps best used with heavier leaders 20lbs and up as lighter lines tend to coil around each other much too easily.

Would certainly appreciate any feedback on how this rig may be improved or if it's flawed somehow!

Cheers,

Another tip I got from Kerry! This CD wallet is great to store ready-made rigs so the next time you're busted, you don't need to waste precious time tying new leaders! All u need to do is clip it on the main line, attach a sinker and off u go! [img size=375]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/CD_wallet.jpg

Yeap, like what Adrian said, the granny knot has yet to fail for the two of us. As long as you have at least 2 turns of the overhand knot instead of the usual 1, it holds great. Quite a few websites do recommend it as a simple but really good knot.

I've been here for 3 years without going back to Singapore and I only started fishing last year-end! Perhaps its in our blood?
