Well the forecast looked good, and after Callum had a chat with Tugger, we decided to leave my place at midnight to be on the water by 2.30am so we could fill the bait tank with livies before being on the spot by 4.30am.

Leaving the ramp Callum pulls out some awesome tasting sausages for breakfast and then puts 2 bananas on top of the esky. Hmm, should have just gone home right then, lol.

No livies at my normal bait marks so we decided to just head to the palmy mark and try there.

It was very sloppy conditions which made the run there quite slow, but we were there by 4am to find 2 other boats already there and Callum started setting lines while I jigged bait.

I started feeling queezy which is very strange for me on my own boat, but it passed soon after sunrise.

Using live yakkas, we lost a couple of baits early with no hook ups and Callum almost hooked into another, but still no joy.

By now the boat count on the reef was huge, best guess is well over 70 boats!

By 9am the weather was looking like closing in and I made the call to head home fishless.

Sloppy ride back and the seaway was a bit turbulent, but not too bad.

I think Callum took a handful of pics of the conditions.
