Gday again :) Thought i would share my annual trip to the Capricorn coast chasing all sorts. After the weather letting me down previous years in March we decided to try May in hope of kinder weather. We arrived last saturday morning to a 15knt sw and headed straight out to get into the action. about 30 mins in on surface lures the action kicked off with great strikes from GT and Queens then the connections started. kicked the trip off with a pb queenie 113cm :woohoo:

Absolute cracker trip Wes, gotta be happy with that action!!!! I remember your report from last year with the GT's, geez you pull some good fish from that location!! What did the cobia go and was he on bait? What sort of salmon are they? Oh and you'll have to let Mark (Tugger) know that you've got him by one cm (trout) ......

cheers man :) cobia was not measured just quick pic and release, he was actually trying to catch some dinner and had a nice hussar hooked up and the cobia grabbed it beside the boat as he went to lift it in the boat. there is blue salmon and steelies. we managed 35 blue salmon in coorooman creek on the last arvo up there, the wind was predicted to kick up so we did a creek fish to finish. Have to catch up with tugger for a fish :) the action had way more then just the pics with massive spaniards nearly landing in the boat chasing the stick baits, vertical tuna strikes, some big sharks on 80lb spin gear for fun, crossed lines on double hook ups and mick done on the anchor rope by a big gt. the area is a fishing mecca in my opinion and not that far away :)

I know where I'll be spending a lot of my R&R.

I miss that area, been back in Brisbane for two years and have only been back up there once.

Those steelies will hit a lure as big as them and the blues go bloody hard.

Awesome session mate, cheers for the report.

cheers man, I could happily move into that area and have that fishing in my back yard  the steelies hit hard for a lil fish and yeah mick was impressed with the power to weight of the blues :lol:
