Luke and I shot up to Borumba to see how my new motor handled with a larger prop on it as it was red lining. Thanks to Suzuki it went well no problems thank goodness. We were able to scoot around the dam stopping here and there to do some casting and jigging, chasing toga and bass mainly, with the bass playing the game but the toga being a bit shy. We only encounted one toga, Luke got it on a spinnerbait right out in the open after seeing a big splash in the area, it jumped up in the air, looked at us and I am sure I seen its lips move and utter the words what a pair of losers, before it shook its head and spat the hook.

Any way there was plenty of bass to be had along the edges and we finished up using the 20 odd shrimps I took as a safeguard, Approx about 40 plus bass landed all up so was a nice morning. We will catch up with those toga nextime.

Very nice work. Another dam I have not fished but would really like to!
 

I need a long weekend there as I really want to paddle the stream underneath as well!

Have done 2 trips there many years ago and both time ended up sick as a dog.

Lucky I was with friends who packed up the camp site and drove back to Brisbane

What's the travel time to the dam these days?

I stick to 100k and it takes just over 90mins.

got up 6am yesterday morning had breakfast packed up tent and gear and home at redland bay by 10am just over 200k.pack time a bit shorter than usual as tend and fly had dew on them so just quick roll up and throw in trailer,

Yabba creek that runs off the dam is probably only able to be paddled a kilometer or two before there's extended shallow sections. Have seen bass (albeit small), lungfish and cod come from the creek so its safe to assume there are resident yella's.

Yeah even though I kayak I think I'll leave the creek alone.
