Hi all,

Headed out with the missus and the trusty hound on Saturday to enjoy some of the great conditions and weather in the Bay. After a minor trailer misshap on the highway (i.e. blown out tyre)on the way up, we made it to Bribie around 7am. Went straight out to the Sptifire Channel and worked our way over to the Bulwer Ledge with slugs and hardbody lures. No strikes or hits the whole trip. About 5kms from Bulwer there were a few schools of small longtails and mack tuna working but as there was a fair amount of idiot boaties around flying thru the schools we gave up trying to hunt them down. Headed over to the beach and spent a couple of hours relaxing in the shallows.

Cruised back toward Bribie working each of the beacons as we went. All we managed was one undersize yellowtail kingie - too samll to keep, but a great fight on light tackle and a wonderful little fish.

Finally decided to head for home around 1pm with nothing in the esky yet again. Got back to the banks just on the edge of Red Beach and saw a heaps of birds working on the edge of the calm and choppy water. Threw out a small slug and instantly the drag was screaming. Boated a nice 1kg Tailor. Rigged up another line so we could both fish and ended up with 7 nice Tailor and 6 decent Dart before we decided we had enough for the esky. Great session.

2 lessons were learnt from the day:

1) the spare tyre that i've carried and not used since owning the boat has paid for itself. it just goes to show that spending a little extra cash can save of lot of grief in the long run.

2) you don't always need to go a long way to catch of great feed of fish

PS - dug out the smoker last last, cracked a couple cold stubbies and had a GREAT feed of smoked Tailor delights! Mmmmm, Mmmmmmm!!!!
