One thing to be aware of is that a lot of older fridges freezers use a crap load of juice. Often it will be worth your while to buy a new or near new efficient one and it will pay it self off in reduced electricity consumtion very quickly.

I've heard old bait freezers do very well connected to the hot water circuit. Not that I think it is "smiled upon" by your electricity provider! Some allow it some dont.

Kmart I think has been selling cheap little 4 draw freezers for around $200 they come in a choice of white or black colours.
