Joining Knots

I'm having a bit of trouble joining 40lb Penn 10x to my 8kg Platypus Lo-stretch

Are there any knots that anybody can reccommend to join these two together?

The Penn 10x is really thick, stiff and tough where as the Lo-stretch is limp and thin for its breaking strain

I've used the Albright and Uni-Uni and of the two, the uni-uni is probably the best so far, but it still isn't great...

Albright or try a double surgeon's knot.

there was a knot on Fishing Western Aust, used for joining really heavy leaders. Its on there web site. The Trevally Knot, or something like that.

Never used it but they were using 120lbs leader to there 50lbs main and doing well

Will, try this one.

It is basically a thumb or overhand knot in the leader and a Uni knot in the lighter main line. Works well with mono and braid.

you can tie a double in your mainline then do a joining knot

tony jones knot is good for thick leader to thin main

so is the improved albright special

I double up with a bimini twist and then secure the leader with the tony jones knot. If you are ever in portland, victoria you should head out on tony's charter boat. Quality operation and not too pricey either.
