Soft plastic fishing

Ok guys I have decided to step up into the future after a long week at work have bought myself a tackle warehouse soft plastics combo with the overtime money. I have 4 lb fireline on it and using a 4lb mono leader of about three foot. Being new to this game, does this sound the right way to go. Also a mate lent me the Squidgy secrets video so am going to purchase some of them this weekend as well. Would anyone be able to give me some ideas on the types that work well in the estuaries and freshwater up here ?

Mate everybody has their favorite, and to be honest, it is usually the type of plastic they got their first decent fish on!

Therefore I like Shads, 50 to 75mm

A Lot of others like Berkley Gulps because they are expensive and therefore elitist (that oughta get a fight going!)

Are the gulps the things they make with a bit of scent

Most plastics that come in packets these days are scented.
