An advanced search on the site would be great, or at the very least the ability to search within a specific category.

I second that thought, it would make searching for old posts or a certain topic much easier, but I don't know how hard it would be to implement on the existing forum...

I know this was an old post, but I have also found the search function a bit clunky. To be able to search a specific category would be of great use. For instance, I was searching for information about fish species in the Noosa Sounds area, but the search result was too broad across all the categories to be of any real use to me.

I don't know the mechanics of how the website works, but it is an idea to consider.

The basic "Search forum" sticks you straight into advanced search, so the basic search is not working, I only want to learn a new leader to braid knot so I will Google it. I'm on IE and Vista and won't be changing....

From my limited testing yes but I get this message at the top

It only works if you choose a category. Leaving it on "All categories" does not work, even with "Also search in child forums" ticked.

As Kev said the basic search now doesn't work.

Doesn't seem to work for me at all.

If I simply put in a keyword and have all categories selected and then search either text body or titles, I get NIL results.

If I pick "Fishing" as a category, then I get the error

but still get NIl results.

Have been sitting here for a good few minutes, and still unable to get any results no matter what I try.

it seems All Categories doesn't work

If you specify a category to search, you get results.

You should if you select a category (tested on Firefox), at present searching in all Categories doesnt work. We are looking into the issue.

Works in specific category, not otherwise. When you use the short form entry on to p of the page, it does not work, you have to wait for the error message then pick a forum

do get error message though
