Braided Dacron

Guys,

I have aquired a couple of 300 metre x 40kilo pools of Western Filament (USA) Braided Dacron fishing line in a job-lot of gear at an auction.

How does this dacron differ from normal braided line?

It claims on the box that it is excellent for bottom fishing, casting and trolling.

I guess that if it really isnt suitable to use as normal braid, it would be ok for backing?

I used dacron many years ago, Green Spot Trolling dacron. i found it to be good.. untill oneday it snapped for no apparent reason.. then i find out the shit rotted out.. what a way to spend 500 dollars to spool a reel up. apart from that its pretty good, but the dia can be big, not too sure on the dacron you aquired tho best of luck.....

They claim that this stuff is super strong and super thin and hollow construction and wak coated. Its over 80lbs and about as thin as 10lb Mono.

It will probably be ok as backing, if nothing else
