Nothing much Happening for a while Sub Surface so I changed over to a Jitterbug to try my luck with some top water action and sure enough it was the right call even though the sun was still high its a very shaded part of the river being right in the middle of rain forest.

found this snag

You could Tell this fish had had it tough Headin down to the Salt to breed over several Rock Bars then back up over them after Spawning he was Fairly Skinny and battle scared missing half his tail.

The Absolute Fluke of the entire catch was the fact that the Jitterbug Litterally Fell apart after landing the fish with the bib Clean Breaking off I was Very Lucky indeed

Ok Adrenaline pumping now and still plenty of time to catch more, headed further Upstream, a few corners later and I got another hit this time from a very small bass couldnt believe how small he was lol   , but good to see them in all sizes up there

[img size=150]http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb161/pcsolutionman/Maroochy%20North%20Fresh/28-09-08/p9280187.jpg

had another couple of hits and misses with fish missing the lure, But I think they were smaller fish. then I got 3 massive Boofs on the one cast felt one of them but didnt set the hooks, I tried half a dozen more casts to the same spot before swapping to an sx48 to see if i could tempt him sub surface and sure enough first cast im on, not a bad little fish either he put up a pretty good fight

[img size=150]http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb161/pcsolutionman/Maroochy%20North%20Fresh/28-09-08/p9280192.jpg

and back he goes

Headed back right on dusk and was packed up and on my way home before dark, couldnt have been more happy. its not easy t get decent sized wild bass here on the sunny Coast without headin up into the Noosa everglades, in fact thats the biggest wild bass I have seen come from a stream on the coast :):):) now to break the 50cm mark :egrin: :egrin:

Lee:woohoo:

Cracker effort! Well done on the 48.

Tight creeks like that are well worth persisting with surface lures, as most of the time there is a thick canopy of trees which provide good shade. A river fish also knows that it must make the best of every feeding chance it gets...as it doesnt know when the next one will swim past.

Great effort once again.

Leigh.

P.S Hang that lure on the wall with pride! It has definately earnt its forced retirement.
