queensland S of Brisbane

We were wondering if the N coast of nsw and S coast of Queensland are much more congested with tourists than the coast n of the city to Burrum Heads.

You are correct, however the Northern Rivers area of NSW is some of the most beautiful in the country (imo).

South of Brunswick Heads is pretty good as far as low people numbers go, but as you near the Gold Coast it is awful with people and congestion.

Northern area of NSW is very nice as Brian says,I would avoid the tourist hot spots like Byron Bay, but the rest is nice small town, lovely white sand ocean beaches and estuaries. The main roads are very good, the coastal ones not so good, but quite serviceable. Lots of camping areas in nice spots.
